Join us for an engaging and informative evening at the Tauranga Mayoral Leaders Debate.

Earlier this month, Chamber members were asked to complete a poll, indicating which of the 15 candidates they wanted to hear from. As the venue has three microphones for the livestream, we initially selected the top three candidates. 

However, as there were just two votes separating second, third and fourth, we’ve decided to support our members’ close result by including Tina Salisbury to join the three previously announced participants: Greg Brownless, Mahe Drysdale, and Ria Hall.

“It’s time we put the candidates into the spotlight and dig beneath the campaign slogans to find out where they stand on key issues. We’re really looking forward to getting them into a room and putting some tough questions to them before voting begins,” Mr Cowley says.

Date: Wednesday, 26 June

Venue: University of Waikato - Tauranga Campus

Timeline: 

4:30pm Registered attendees can start to arrive.

5.20pm: Livestream and debate will start at 5.20 sharp. Don't be late. We'll go straight into questions.

6.20pm: Candidates will receive 3-mins each for a closing statement.

6.32pm: Debate finishes. Media attending may have questions. Mingle with audience.

By 7pm: Vacate the venue.

Limited Seating: Pre-registered Chamber members will have the opportunity to witness the debate live and submit questions. Wider public will be able to watch the livestream from the comfort of their homes.

Expert Moderation: Tauranga Business Chamber CEO Matt Cowley will serve as the debate’s moderator, ensuring a fair and insightful discussion.

This is a FREE event for members. In order to keep costs low and minimise clean up, we won’t be offering food or beverages during the event – Not a Catered Event
